LAHORE: Pakistan Ulema Council Chairman Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi said on Sunday that Pakistan has rightly demanded the Iranian government crack down on suspected Indian spy network on Iranian soil and hand them over to Pakistan.
Addressing the ulema convention on Sunday, Pakistan Ulema Council Chairman Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi said that any sort of legislation in the country that is against Shariah cannot be supported. He said clerics and religious leadership of the country have given their suggestions, and the Punjab government has expressed its willingness to consider them. Ashrafi said that at the moment Pakistan is passing through a crucial phase and to contain internal and external challenges, all segments of society should get united for security and solidarity of the country.
Pakistan Ulema Council Secretary General Sahibzada Zahid Mehmood Qasmi, Maulana Ayub Safdar, Abdul Hameed Watto, Maulana Shabbir Ahmed Usmani, Maulana Ashfaq Patafi, Maulana Anwarul Haq Mujahid, Maulana Umar Usmani and Qari Muhammad Mushtaq Lahori also addressed the ulema convention. Speaking on the occasion, the religious leadership said terrorists are targeting every Pakistani without distinction of religion and religious sect and the brutal attack at Lahore’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park hinted at the fact that these terrorists and extremists have no association with Islam.
“These terrorists are killing innocent people and have no affiliation with any religion of the world. They are enemies of humanity.” The religious leadership also termed the arrest of an Indian spy from Balochistan as a great success on the part of security agencies of the country, adding that Pakistan values its relations with neighbouring countries but it is also the responsibility of these neighbouring countries to end anti-Pakistan activities from their soil.
They noted that Iran is brother Islamic country of Pakistan and people of Pakistan expects from the Iranian government that it will eradicate Indian spy network from Chahbahar (Iran) and will hand over these suspected Indian spies to Pakistan, said the ulema. They also stated that the demands on part of the government of Pakistan to Iranian leadership to eradicate Indian spy network from Iranian cities and handing over of Indian spies to Pakistan is not a violation of the constitution of Pakistan.
The speakers also emphasised that any sort of restrictions on media in Pakistan will not be accepted, adding that if leadership and spokesperson of any country has objections on media content in Pakistan, they should make its explanation categorically. Pakistani media is the protector of Pakistan’s interests and cannot be consider as allied to or opponent of any country.
